WELLINGTON LEE PHOTOGRAPHIC BIOGRAPHY
Wellington Lee was horn in May 12, 1918 in Hoiping. Guangdong. China. An USA citizen, moved to the USA in 1935. Started interested in photography in 1937. attended professional photographic courses in New York School of Art & Design in 1939 and graduated in 1943. received school's highest award in Graduation Ceremony. Drafted into the USA Army in World War II as official photographer for 3 years. While in the Army, had (rained special photographic courses in USA Signal Corps and had taken correspondence photographic courses from the University of Michigan. After discharged from the Army, worked in Ions Fashion Studio, New York City for 3 years and in Rick Fashion Studio for one year, Opened the Wellington Lee Studio in Chinatown. New York City in 1950 for business and retired in 1977.

INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION PARTICIPATION
Greatly interested in international exhibitions. According to PSA and personal exhibition records,

from 1938 to 1997. the combination acceptance record of four divisions, monochrome print, colour print, colour slide and stereo slide have been reached fifteen thousands (15.000). The first recipient of Diamond Star Exhibitor Award in Monochrome and Colour Prints in 1981. Also Diamond star Exhibitor Award in Pictorial Colour Slides. Five Star Exhibitor Award in Stereo Slide. From 195 I to 1997. the Combination Record of Colour Print. Monochrome Print and Colour Slide, have been shown as the "Top Ten Exhibitor of the World" for 59 times.
Have received more than one thousand (1.000) awards in various kinds from national a nd international photographic contests and exhibitions from 1938 to 1997 in all parts of the world. Among the special awards such as: 1939 New York World's Fair Award; USA Freedom Foundation Award: 1948 Popular Photography magazine International Picture Contest. Grand Award & $5,000 Prize: PSA Charles Kinsley Memorial Awards. Sluyvesant Peabody Award. John Doscher Memorial Award: Cultural Award. Education Ministry of Republic of China: Photographic Society of New Yoik"Out standing Photographer of I he Century Award" etc.

PHOTOGRAPHIC HONORS RECEIVED
From 1938 to 1997. for photographic proficiency in and outsanding services to photography, many photographic organzations all over the world have been conferred honors to Wellington Lee including 39 Honorary Fellowships, 38 Honorary Memberships and 9 Fellowships. During the 60 years in photography, have been participated hundreds of Judgings, lecturings for various photographic organizations in the USA and abroad. Three books have been published: "Artistic Photography",1968;"Phtography", 1989; "Photo-Art", 1997. Many photo articles have been published in USA and abroad.
PERMANENT COLLECTIONS
Wellington Lee photographic works have been considered top quality with his own style and particular for his nude studies, dance pictures, high contrast pictures and the special process called "ADDA COLOR", experimented and perfected by himself. A process to make "WOODCUT" appearane works in colors from black and white negatives. Pictures have collected by: The Photographic Society of America, Photo Society of China, Royal Photo Society of Great Britain, Federation of International Photo Art, India International Photographic Council, Cercle Royal Photographlque, Belgium, Ceyland National Photo Society, Kodak Camera Club, South Africa Photo Society, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and others.
WELLINGTON LEE AWARD
Since the creation of the Wellington Lee Award In 1961 for the purpose to promote the Interest and advance of photography ail over the world, hundres of awards have been given out to many parts in the world.

SUMMARY
After 60 years of hard works in and the promotion of photography, these good results have been rearched by Wellington Lee:
1. Combination of record in four divisions, monochrome print, color print, color slide and stereo slide, have been rearched 15,000 acceptances.
2. Diamond Star in monochrome print, color print and color slide divisions and 5 Star in stereo slide division.
3. Rcceived more than 1,000 awards of various kind from all pails of world.
4. Maintaining 59 times as the "TOPTHN"lnternational Salon exhibitor of the World with monochrome prints, color prints and pictorial color slides
5. Received more than 100 photogra.phic honors of various type from photographic organizations of the world including the highest honor, such as Hon FPSA (USA), Hon FRPS (U.K.), Hon EFIAP (Europe), Hon FPSC (China), Hon FPSS (Singapore), Hon FPST (Thailand), Hon FPSEA (Hong Kong), etc.
6. Minneapolis Institute of Arts considered Wellington Lee as one of the most outstanding photographers in the earlier half 20th century and keeping 25 of this works for Permanent Collection in the Institute.

60 YEARS IN PHOTOGRAPHY
In celebration of the 80th birthday of Wellington Lee and in conjunction with the marking of his 60 years in practice and promotion of the art of photography, the publication of the "PHOTO-ART" is planned. In order to carry out clearly the message of aim, the content of his photographic works appearing in this book to reveal his artistic talent, photographic skill, style, subject matter and the interpretation of his view on photography through various changes as time in progress.
